IMTEX Products have Dual Certification and Marking for both ATEX and IECEx
ATEX certification is the accepted standard within Europe for hazardous area applications. Outside of Europe there is inconsistency in the acceptance of ATEX certified products, particularly in countries which have their own national Standards and often require imported products to comply with these Standards.
To increase the acceptance of our hazardous area products around the globe IMTEX Types AQ, IQ and SRX valve monitoring systems are now Ex d and Ex ia certified to both ATEX and IECEx schemes.
The IECEx System is a certification system which verifies compliance with IEC international standards relating to safety in hazardous areas. It covers equipment, service facilities and the competency of personnel. IECEx is a voluntary system which provides an internationally accepted means of proving compliance with IEC standards. It also means that the products can be supplied to the market without the need for additional tests.
In the case of equipment, IECEx certification confirms that products have the appropriate protection for use in explosive atmospheres and that they have been manufactured under systems subject to ongoing surveillance by IECEx Certification Bodies (ExCBs). It is recognised in many countries around the world, including all the countries participating in the IECEx System, with the United Nations formally endorsing IECEx in November 2009.
By having products certified according to the IECEx scheme, IMTEX products are gaining wider acceptance status in the countries signed up to the IECEx scheme as they have had in Europe for many years working with the ATEX scheme. In some cases there may still be a requirement for coverage of national certification, however in these instances the certification can be fast tracked at minimal cost using the IEC Ex test report issued by Sira.
